Fear is the Key
‘The Crypt’ is about the ancient tradition of Qanat Bride which is common in central Iran’s rural regions. According to this ancient tradition, the elders of a village are faced with an intense drought and decide to perform the tradition of Qanat Bride, in which a virgin girl marries Qanat. The Qanat bride rinses herself with qanat water every week till it gets fertile.
But she has to remain unmarried to the end of her life. Qanat is a gently sloping underground channel that is used to transport water from an aquifer or water well to the surface for drinking and irrigation.
